Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Police say they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other marked cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations show the liquid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for details.
A high-ranking official stated the incident rendered him stunned and required to be solved quickly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack five years ago," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
